Professional photographic services in Queensland
RED DUST
Red Dust Photography was formed after many years of interest in photography beginning in my youth and a desire to retire from my life long trade as an automotive mechanic which sustained my family as they grew.
During my early youth my family moved to a rural setting west of Gympie for a short period to a pineapple farm. It was where I developed an affiliation with country life. In more recent years touring across our great country in a 4 wheel drive encouraged my interest further.
In preparation for the transition from automotive mechanics and the formation of Red Dust Photography I studied photo imaging at the CATC School of Design in Brisbane gaining a Diploma in photo imaging.
Business skills obtained owning an automotive repair shop for sixteen years and employed as a service advisor for two years have enabled me to open

IT’S YOUR PORTRAITURE
Most likely you asked for a portrait of yourself, family, or friends because you want to have an indelible memory of what is and was. As a memory, you need to have the best image possible to capture the essence of that memory. There are some things you can do to help achieve that.
Consider the reasons you want the portrait in the first place. There is usually an emotional component, good or bad. Hold onto that as it maintains the reason for putting in the effort into creating a good sitting.
Think about how you want to appear. Do you want to be a happy person, family, having fun or more formal, perhaps just being natural? Discuss this with the photographer together, it helps to formulate posing and setting ideas.

Natural smiles
Your photographer will try to keep you relaxed by initiating conversation. Be open to this as it does help and the more relaxed you are the more it shows in the images. Practice beforehand relaxing. Try starting with the eyes, mouth, face and work your way down to your body, arms, and hands
Don’t be intimidated by the camera concentrating more on staying relaxed and your pose. Treat the camera like a TV, just something to look at.

When it comes to kids often the best images are when they are being themselves.

Some times your lucky
Remember the camera doesn’t make the portraiture it just takes the image. You and the photographer make the portrait.
It’s your portrait.
